The Great Knight Tree was my favorite Christmas tradition, a towering 60-foot tree my Pawpaw lit every year.
My Pawpaw, Harvey Knight, was an entrepreneur most of his life, despite having only an eighth-grade education. He weathered hard times, built multiple successful businesses, and quietly helped people in need, especially during the holidays. Many times, I watched him offer support to friends and strangers alike, never seeking recognition.
HONORING A LEGACY
In 2020, after my first full year in business, I launched Operation Silent Knight to honor my Pawpaw’s memory and continue his spirit of generosity. It’s my way of putting my own spin on paying it forward.
The end of the year can be tough for many, especially those in the motorsports industry. Jobs shift, seasons end, and the uncertainty about what comes next can be overwhelming. I’ve been there myself, facing the challenges that come with chasing a dream. I was fortunate enough to receive a few helping hands along the way, and those moments left a lasting impact on my career and my confidence.
WHAT OPERATION SILENT KNIGHT DOES
Each year, Operation Silent Knight surprises hardworking individuals who give everything they’ve got, often behind the scenes to pursue their passions. It might be help with an unexpected car repair, funds for supplies, or simply a small gesture to brighten their day.
These recipients never ask for help, nor do they know they’ve been selected. They’re people I’ve worked with or observed who consistently “talk the talk and walk the walk.” Occasionally, it’s strangers I encounter on my travels. The goal is simple: offer a moment of relief to those who take risks, work relentlessly, and push toward making their dreams a reality. Having walked that path myself, I know how much a little support can mean.
HOW IT'S FUNDED
Each year, a portion of Knight EXP’s revenue is dedicated to Operation Silent Knight. To expand the impact, additional gifts are welcomed, often crowdsourced through friends and followers who pitch in just $1. Think of it as buying coffee for the person behind you in the drive-thru.
