My Pawpaw, Harvey Knight, was an entrepreneur for the majority of his life, but only had an 8th-grade education. He survived hard times, and built several successful businesses. Growing up, I witnessed him secretly help unsuspecting people- especially around the holidays. ,
Operation Silent Knight was launched in 2020, after my first full year in business, to honor the memory of my Pawpaw and his acts of kindness. Call it, my own spin on paying-it-forward.
For many in the motorsports industry, the end of the year oftentimes brings uncertainty about a job or work in the coming year. I've personally been in that position and have been faced with the difficulties and challenges of pursuing a dream. Fortunately, I received a helping hand or two along the way, and will never forget the positive impact it had on my career.
Operation Silent Knight surprises people each year who give it their all, day after day, to chase their passions and dreams. People who put in countless hours working, often unnoticed. Maybe it's assistance to pay for an unexpected car repair, or funds towards supplies for a race car, or simply a little gesture that says "Keep going, you're doing great."
These recipients haven't asked for help, nor do they have any idea they've been identified as a recipient. They are people I've worked alongside and/or witnessed who talk the talk and walk the walk. The goal is simple: provide a little break to those who have taken the risk to chase their dreams and who put in the work to make them a reality. Having been there, I understand the impact a little gesture can have on getting to the next step.
A portion of Knight EXP's revenue is set aside annually for Operation Silent Knight. To maximize the impact, additional gifts are accepted, and crowdsourced by encouraging friends on social media to donate $1. Think of it like paying-it-forward to a stranger in the drive thru line. Recipients names and specific stories are kept confidential, hence the name Silent Knight.
If you feel compelled to pay-it-forward to someone you may not know, gifts are accepted at the links below.
